Abstract

In this article the rise, formation, development, flourishing, and fall of Taziyekhani in the Iranian traditional and modern societies are
concisely considered.
Taziyekhani was formed outside the mosques and the official
religious system. It was based on the masses' religious culture. Then it was gradually developed and turned into a perfect ritual and religious
play. It was mostly developed and flourished in Ghajar Dynasty too.
Taziyekhani has always been a major, powerful, and active center for maintaining the relationship between the people and the religion. In today's social and cultural constructions of the society, it has mostly lost its previous role and efficiency. It can no longer maintain its ritual and

religious functions or it may no more have its leading and instructing uses among the various classes of the society. If Taziyekhani is to be stable and efficient in the present developed society, its formal and intellectual constructions and its manner of performance should be
changed so as to be compatible with the people's cultural, social, and intellectual systems.
