The number and the rapid growth of the population of the Islamic countries as well as their vast geographical areas have made them very interesting for the social researches including demographic investigation.
The slow demographic transition of these countries has been in the focal point of demographer's attention. Some. demographers believe that the cause of this slowness is their religious beliefs. One may attribute some features such as the high rate of the population growth, the low
age of marriage, and the low level of women's occupations to the Islamic beliefs. But one must take into account the other features which are not common among all the Islamic countries such as the fertility and mortality levels and the proportion of citizenship. Therefore we cannot put all the Islamic countries from the viewpoint of the demographic
structure and movement in the same category
