Abstract

In this research, one of the unwanted consequences of higher education in the cultural and value system of the society has been scientifically analyzed. The researches done in Iran indicate that there
is often a negative correlation between religiousness and education, esp. higher education. It has also been descriptively shown that this
difference of religiousness being present among the adults may be noticed among their young children too.
In order to interpret and analyze this phenomenon theoretically, an explanatory model has been presented. Then, some hypotheses have been logically deduced. On the basis of a random sample, the
research hypotheses have been empirically tested.
At the end, the research findings demonstrate that the rate of
religiousness among the young children of the families with higher education, in comparison with their peers in other families, is due to
these families' attitudes toward improving their children's education so as to re-establish their social status in general.
