It can approximately be said that the translation of Ibn Khaldun's Muqaddamah into French is a century and a half years old. Since then, it has also been translated into many foreign languages. Its content has been scientifically discussed by various thinkers too. The professors, researchers, and university students have investigated it from different perspectives. They have acknowledged Ibn Khaldun's new and innovative thought. But, in spite of this common acknowledgment and various studies, the interpreters of Ibn Khaldun's thought and works do not feel the same concerning him and esp. his Muqaddamah .
Some of them believe that he is a pioneer or even the founder of certain social sciences, esp. sociology. The other experts who consider sociology as a modern age discipline believe that although there are common categories and elements in development and sociology, Ibn Khaldun is a massive figure of the ancient age, in terms of the foundations of his thought.
In order to increase the richness of this scientific discussion, the researcher has tried to put forward his findings concerning the
difference in the foundations of his thought, in addition to presenting the two major trends along with their representatives.
