Abstract

The work of rural women has been ignored by rural men, rural
women, and rural sociologists who claim the scientific objectivity in their studies and writings.
The evidence_ from a survey in thirty villages of Esfehan Province,
_
shows that fifty four percent of men whose wives work at home and on
the family farm do not consider them as the employed or the family
labourer.
The findings of a research in forty two villages of Yazd Province show that even seventy nine percent of the rural women who are involved in economic activities at home or on the family farm take it as a part of their housekeeping duties.
In the end, a review of the literature in rural sociology supports the axiom that says: The overlooking of rural women's work is a cultural phenomenon.
